Private Sector Development

A team that brings technical excellence and experience

Abt Associates provide a full range of services from short-term consultancies, such as health impact assessments and clinical audits, to ongoing clinical services, employee health programs and long-term clinical and public and community health activities. Our programs are designed to meet the employers’ requirements - we offer a number of core services applicable to any business and can tailor services to suit specific industry/corporate needs.

One of our unique offerings is the development and implementation of public-private partnerships between mine operatives, government agencies and non-government health providers. Our specialised experience means we can broker these partnerships and coordinate clinical services, health facility redevelopments and community and public health programs as part of the implementation. We also undertake rigorous monitoring of results.

Public Private Partnerships

We have facilitated Public-Private Partnership programs between resource companies, relevant government agencies and health service providers in order to enhance the health and social services for both mine impacted communities and workforce to meet identified national and international standards. Clients have included Lihir Gold mine, Morobe mine joint venture and Ok Tedi Mining in PNG and the Oyu Tolgoi mine in Mongolia.

Public-Private Partnerships bring mutual benefits for both government and the resource industry. They provide support to Government to expand services, financial and logistical support, improvements in infrastructure and the development of viable partnerships to guarantee delivery of strategic health priorities in districts.

For the resource industry, Public-Private Partnerships ensure sustainable and economic development in mining affected communities through improving the quality of health and social care for the mine workforce and developing healthy communities from which to draw workforce.
